Those who had passes made their way to the Opti-Centre de Dorion for the banquet. More than 240 people responded to our invitation for this part of the festivities.
There was noise there too! Can you imagine a "gang" of Besners meeting and chatting, all at the same time!
At 5 p.m., the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion held a reception where we heard speeches by our honourable guests: His Worship Mayor Réjean Boyer, federal deputy Discepola, provincial deputy Marcoux, Guy Lessard representing the Fédération des Familles- souches québécoises inc. and Elliott Besner, our president.

During the supper and evening, the Marquis de Vaudreuil himself, impersonated by Robert Payant, a local storyteller, facilitated the activities. The folk group La Part du Quêteux led everyone in song and dance. A wonderful time was had by everyone. We fraternized and renewed acquaintances with cousins and friends we had not seen for a long time. Some cousins came from as far away as France and California.

During the evening, an honorary plaque was presented to Hector, our Association founder, recognizing all his achievements and, let's face it, his determination in believing in this Association project and the 250th celebrations. A second plaque was presented to Marie-Renée Bézenère, our French cousin, for her inestimable cooperation in our research of our origins in France. A third plaque was presented to Roger Besner for his participation and valuable help in organizing these festivities.

To close the evening, a draw was held under the scrutiny of the Marquis de Vaudreuil. Two of the happy winners were present and left with a cheque in hand. Many thanks to all those who believed in this great adventure and proved it by buying and selling the raffle tickets that served, in part, to finance these activities.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Hector, the members of the board of directors and the numerous volunteers who believed in this magnificent project, of which we are so very proud.
On thing's for sure: very few of us will participate in the 300th anniversary but at least there are a great many of us who were privileged to celebrate the 250th. I am positive that all of us appreciated this wonderful day. Let's all work together to transmit to our descendants this wonderful feeling of pride that we share.
