Canadian Besner Family of French Origins

OUR NEW LOGO

We cannot refer to Arms pertaining to our family for the simple reason that we are not of noble blood. However we can endow ourselves with a distinctive sign such as a logo. Here is the one we have selected.

In the upper left space, the cross of the Counts of Toulouse, which became the logo of the region of the Midi-Pyrénées in France, our ancestor's birthplace (red, bordered with gold on a white background).

In the upper right-hand corner, an anchor (white on a blue background) a symbol appearing on the flag of the 'Compagnies Franches de la marine' of which our ancestor was a member between the years 1752 and 1760.

In the lower left-hand corner, the fleur-de-lis (white on a blue background) representing the ancient regime of France and the actual symbol of Quebec.

In the lower right space, the maple leaf (red on a white background) the symbol of Canada where our family has flourished.

The two scrolls sum up the spelling of our family name in 1752 (Bézanaire) and the most widespread in the year 2000 (Besner). This does not rule out other versions, past and present; Bezner, Bezenert, Bessenère, Bessenaire, Bisnaire.
