Canadian Besner Family of French Origins

SAVERES IS PREPARING TO RECEIVE BESNERS IN 2002

At beginning of June 2001, two representatives of Valleyfield's GENDRON Travel Agency went to France to prepare the Besners' Commemorative Trip of 2002. Moreover, at mid July, Thérèse Besner, one of the directors in the Administrative Counsel of our Besner Families Association, on the occasion of a family visit in southern France, spent one full day with her husband in Savères. It was July 17, 2001.

They were warmly received by the mayor and his wife, they visited the village and met Albert and Aline Bézanère, the last Besner survivors in the birth place of our canadian ancestor.

A picture being worth a thousand words, let see the "photo-souvenirs " of this day and their description.

An aerial view of the little village of Savères.

This rural scenery is very similar to many canadian ones; atop the hill is the church and the village of Savères.

In the shadow of the Savères' Chateau, Thérèse Besner pause with Albert Bézanère and his wife Aline.

Here is the particular architecture of many old churches in southern France : The steeple is conceived as a wall. Our ancestor was christened in this church. Next year, a commemorative plaque will be fixed on the porch by those visiting the place.

The two canadians were the guests of the mayor and his wife.

Here is the new Savères' Community Center whose construction was advanced due to the coming of Besners in 2002.
